“The beginning of my fertility journey was frustrating and lonely. That all ended when I met with Nikki and Jen. Their knowledge and support gave my husband and I the confidence we needed to move forward with the treatment that, ultimately, worked for us. I am so grateful for their care. They are forever a part of our family’s story.”

Preconception Care: Before You Get Pregnant

Most people are aware of the importance of early prenatal care.  Now health experts are taking this care a step further and advising women to begin prenatal care before conception.  The better a woman and her partner’s health is before she gets pregnant, the better their chances are at having a healthy pregnancy and baby.

The following is a list of things you can do to help improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy and baby.

  • Let your provider know you are planning on starting a family
  • Be sure to eat a balanced diet.  Avoid excessive caffeine & artificial sweeteners
  • Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and drugs as all have been proven harmful during pregnancy
  • Be sure to check with your healthcare provider that the medications you may currently be on are safe during pregnancy
  • Be sure to exercise on a regular basis
  • Avoid toxic exposure to gases, fumes, or other toxic substances that may be harmful
  • For men, a semen analysis is recommended as well as a physical

“We have been working with Family Fertility since 2018, and would recommend their nurses, Jen and Nikki to everyone!  The journey to our baby has been and continues to be a long one, but we feel so supported and cared for by them.  Having made the difficult decision to move on to IVF, we didn’t want to lose our favorite nurses, so we chose an IVF clinic that would allow us to continue doing our monitoring, ultrasounds, and blood work at Family Fertility.  Their communication and attention to detail are second to none and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that we feel as little stress as possible.  We know that they always have our best interest in mind and at heart and we are so thankful for that."
